Did you know that confidence is a learnable skill? If you look at your life right now you will feel confident in many areas. If you are honest with yourself, you will also notice areas of your life where you lack confidence.
Life continues to happen and push you here, pull you there and stretch you here. It’s an ongoing cycle. It may not always be easy to identify how your confidence got knocked along the way, but you can still boost your self esteem using a handful of confidence building strategies. These will help you show up for yourself in all areas of your life knowing exactly who you are and what you’re worth!
The time you shoulda, coulda, woulda done all those things has passed. The great thing is that it's never too late to change your mind.

Everything we do is based on a habit. A repeatable set of steps that results in a typical outcome. For example, if you go to the gym five times a week (habit), it is likely that you will be healthier and leaner (outcome).
Some of the habits we have exist by default. We simply haven’t done anything intentionally different, so we’re left with whatever we do now.
In order to boost your self esteem, you’ll need to create habits that will successfully build your confidence, rather than stunt its growth. If you currently spend hours on social media looking at celebrities and all the money and fame they have, and you don’t, this would no doubt contribute to your confidence taking a hit.
Consider what else you could be doing that would make you feel better about yourself and do that instead.
By creating success habits, you break the cycle. You get to do something more positive, intentionally, which leads to you making more intentional decisions about the habits you have and the habits you need to get to where you want in life.
Life is serious enough. We add to that seriousness by worrying so much. This is an opportunity for you to break free from the monotony of life and do something fun that keeps you physically active.
Movement plays a huge role in your mental health. The endorphins released when your active give you feelings of happiness, so if you aren’t moving much in your life, there’s less opportunity for you to ‘feel good’.
Doing something fun allows you to tap into your creative side. That gives you a sense of freedom and can also remind you about the things you genuinely enjoy, but haven’t made time for.
Fun and movement are two essential keys to feeling better in the moment and better within yourself. Moving helps you increase strength physically and mentally, so you are able to navigate the day. Having fun helps you to reduce stress, improve the quality of your sleep and increase your energy. And we all need a bit more of that!

When you hear a negative comment or don’t achieve something you want to, it can be easy to think “I’m a failure”. It’s simply not true.
What about all the times you won? We all need reminders of things every now and then, and your ‘wins’ are one of them.
When you look back in your life, you immediately look for all the reasons why you’re not good at life. You can use the same process to look for all the reasons you are. You have accomplished many things in your life, overcome challenges, helped yourself, helped others, did something new, exceeded expectations and much more.
What if you remembered those things when you next felt like things weren’t going well?
Having a constant reminder of all the things you have achieved will help you see all the great things you CAN do, instead of focusing on the current thing you can’t. It’s time to believe in yourself.
It is important to have a sense of completion in our lives. To know that we can finish what we’ve started.
There’s something you’ve been wanting to do. For a while, actually. You’ve just managed to find all the reasons why you can’t just go for it. Now is the time to stop procrastinating.
It always feels good to finish. Think about finishing the race, the book, the cleaning! Once they’re done, you feel better about yourself for finishing. You will feel the same about this thing you’ve been wanting to do and haven’t. Get that out the way, tick the box and your confidence will go through the roof because you know you CAN do it.
Taking action gives you a regular opportunity to feel good about yourself. Not just for completing what you set out to do, but all you learn as part of the process. It’s a win-win situation.

How much more do you go out of your way to help others than you do to help yourself? Plenty, no doubt. How do you feel when you do? It’s rare that anyone would say ‘awful’.
Those feel good feelings are uplifting and help to boost your self esteem because no matter what you think of yourself, you know that others benefit from your presence.
When you help others, you allow yourself to be there. To be present. To share. To be human. Something we can forget about when our confidence is low.
Helping others is a great opportunity to improve relationships you have with them and yourself.
The feeling of helping someone make their life better is another memory you can keep in your memory bank and call on whenever you need the reminder (see number three).
The only way you will build your confidence is if you choose to. Use any of these five confidence building strategies to boost your self esteem and show up in the world unapologetically:
There is no trick to the development of your confidence within. It is a predictable process that any of us can implement for virtually any action or habit in our lives.
You have to be intentional about building your confidence and self esteem.
You are important. You are valuable. You are able. You are appreciated. It all starts with you believing that. Once you believe it for yourself, it’s a lot more difficult for the world to tell you any different!
Which step will you try out today?
